Rafael Berber, head of the global equity-linked group at Merrill Lynch in London, has been ousted from his role in a recent reshuffle. The firm is looking to place him in another role internally, according to an official. Michael DuVally, spokesman in New York, declined comment and Berber did not return calls.
Merrill Lynch recently overhauled its global markets and investment banking business, which included transferring Simon Brookhouse, managing director and head of equities for the Pacific Rim in Hong Kong, to London to take over BerberÕs role, according to an internal memo sent by Greg Fleming and Dow Kim, presidents of global markets and investment banking earlier this month. Brookhouse could not be reached.
As part of the reorganization Osman Semerci, head of Pacific-Rim debt markets in Tokyo, has been promoted to the new role of head of Pacific-Rim global markets. He has assumed Brookhouse's former responsibilities and is now in charge of both debt and equity operations.
