TD Securities has lured Philippe Hatstadt, head of structured credit derivatives trading at Merrill Lynch in New York, as global head of credit structuring in London. Hatstadt, who could not be reached, is filling a role vacated by Charles Colbourne, who left the firm in December, according to an official.
Hatstadt is making the jump after less than a year with Merrill. He joined the firm last summer after a break from the market (DW, 7/14). He was previously a senior managing director and head of credit derivatives trading at Bear Stearns in New York. The move was motivated by a desire to move to Europe for personal reasons, according to one official. Michael DuVally, spokesperson at Merrill in New York, declined comment.
At TD, Hatstadt will report to Sinan Akdeniz, vice chair. Akdeniz was on vacation and could not be reached.
