| Andrew Feldstein |
BlueMountain Capital Management In bracing market conditions for equity, Andrew Feldstein and his team at BlueMountain stood as being active in unwinding positions to free up capital and take profits. "Smart," was the observation of one player. "They did it at the right time." The New York-based firm, co-founded in 2003 by Feldstein who is cio and ceo, has some USD4.8 billion in assets.
Eton Park Capital Management
Eric Mindich's Eton Park hedge fund with some $10 billion under management has continued to maintain a high profile over the past year, keeping busy in over-the-counter equities and aggressively moving into new markets. In December the firm paid $127 million for a 5% stake in the asset management arm of India's Reliance Capital, manager of the country's largest mutual fund. "Every year they're up to something new," one market participant said.
CQS Management
The London-based hedge fund CQS was a standout as peers cited its performance returns and intelligence in trading. Andrew Song, London-based head of its equity volatility, is also picked out for particular praise, after arriving around a year ago from Merrill Lynch. The firm manages USD9.6 billion in hedge funds, loan portfolios and listed funds, with around 280 staff globally.
