Worries escalate as loans dwindle
Global loan volumes dwindled in October to levels not recorded since January 2004, following Lehman Brother’s bankruptcy in September and the ensuing financial turmoil. Average global loan pricing also reached a record high — of 260bp over Libor — last month, proof, if needed, of how severe the crisis has become and how much it has taken its toll on the loan market.
