Sovereign credit default swaps for five-year protection on Spain reached record wide levels last Tuesday, closing at 274 basis points. On Wednesday, Moody's Investors Service placed Spain's 'Aaa' sovereign credit rating on review for a possible downgrade, with guidance of one to two notches.
