6:10pm There are 10 awards on offer tonight, with Mark Yallop collecting the Outstanding Contributor award. The doors are open and the guests begin to arrive. Let the cocktails commence...
6:20pm Managing editor Rob McGlinchey, with polka-dot tie, is on Italian red and reporter Mike Kentz is sticking to beer. First up is Outstanding Contributor Award to Mark Yallop, presented by Anshu Jain, Head of the Corporate & Investment Bank at Deutsche Bank
6:26pm A reminder of the awards on the table tonight and the nominees.
6:30pm Half an hour into the cocktail hour and the issue of extraterritoriality is being discussed by a senior legal figure. Elsewhere the conversation has turned to EMIR and Dodd-Frank, of course.
6:43pm Did you know that beer festival organizers enter into weather derivatives before a major event? If you didn't, you heard it here first!
7:15pm Guests are now being ushered into the ballroom. Ceremony and dinner are due to start after some opening remarks from the Derivatives Intelligence publisher, Gauri Goyal.
7:19pm The financial transaction tax has also poked its head up in conversations. "It wont work," said one attendee. "How are they going to make it work? And what about Europe? It might drive trading elsewhere."
7:20pm The lobby is jammed. We're expecting 150 attendees tonight.
7:22pm It's like a night at the Oscars here. We have Gucci and Prada dresses preferred among the women, while a lot of the male attendess have opted for Hugo Boss. Reporter Mike Kentz looking dapper in a Ben Sherman tux.
7:40pm And we're off! "I'm so happy and honored to receive this award"--Yallop on his Outstanding Contribution award.
7:42pm Yallop remembers time when the an interest rate swap was in an A4 binder...it's come a long way. Yallop says, "There is the suggestion the recipient is near the end of the road, which I assure you is not the case."
7:45pm Out come the appetizers, it's asparagus and wild mushroom salad with crumb fried poached egg and truffle dressing. Attendees seem to agree that Yallop was the natural choice for the Outstanding Contributor Award. Up next we hear from this year's charity partner, Sparks.
8:00pm Winner of Credit Derivatives House of the Year is the first to be announced. Nominees are Barclays Capital, Citirgroup, Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan.
8:01pm And the winner is Citi. Up next, Interest Rate Derivatives House of the Year.
8:04pm In quick sucession Deutsche Bank wins for Interest Rate Derivatives House of the Year and Credit Suisse wins for equity.
8:15pm And the winner of FX Derivatives House of the Year goes to....Deutsche Bank! That's two so far for DB.
8:16pm RBS wins Structured Product House of the Year.
8:18pm Taking a break from handing out awards now, dinner is served. On the menu, grilled Scottish beef fillet with all the trimmings.
8:25pm The mood is cheeful as the charity auction for Sparks begins.
8:30pm The bidding for a signed Jeff Hirst 1966 World Cup shirt is up to £1,000 already...
8:32pm... £2,000...
8:33pm...and sold to Tullet Prebon for £2,200.
8:36pm Clearly a lot of Pop Idol wannabes in the room as the bidding for a studio-recorded single reaches £1500.
8:47pm The charity auction closes with a 4k bid from Nomura for the seven night golf trip to Barbados and we move onto the Rising Stars who are called to the stage graduation style. Check out the complete list here.
8:53pm Winner of the End User of the Year goes to CQS, presented by Ian Axe, ceo, LCH.Clearnet.
8:57pm Down to the final three awards of the evening. Interdealer Broker of the Year goes to ICAP and Allen & Overy win for Law Firm of the Year. Last award, Global Derivatives House of the Year, goes to....
8:58pm ...Deutsche Bank! That's the third award of the evening for them and is accepted by Michael Forettri.
9:00pm That was the last award of the evening. Ten awards in total and £16,500 raised for Sparks. Thanks for joining us.
