Barclays Nabs Goldman Pro For Strategy Group

Barclays Capital has hired Boris Loshak, v.p. in the mortgage strategy group at Goldman Sachs, as an agencies strategist in New York, according to Brad Stone, head of U.S. fixed income marketing and derivatives strategy. Loshak, who joined the firm about two weeks ago, is filling a new position created to meet the burgeoning U.S. agencies market, which Stone noted is becoming a large part of the U.S. high-grade market (DW, 9/9). He said the agencies business has nearly doubled over the last four years.

Stone worked with Loshak before joining Barclays from Goldman Sachs last July. Prior to Loshak's arrival Stone had been developing agencies strategies as well as derivatives strategies for the firm. Loshak, who reports to Stone, said he and Stone will develop derivatives strategies that focus on the volatility markets and relative-value swaps and how they relate to the agencies swap market.

While at Goldman Sachs, Loshak reported to Alan Brazil, head of mortgage, asset backed and liquid market strategy. Brazil said Goldman Sachs is actively searching for a replacement to fill Loshak's position, which is being covered by the remainder of the staff.
