Barclays Capital has nabbed most of Credit Suisse First Boston's Scandinavian fixed income sales team. The move follows a series of hires from CSFB including its co-head of U.K. and European distribution, Guglielmo Sartori D'Borgoricco, in March. In addition, the U.K. bank has hired senior German and Italian sales professionals out of CSFB. Spokeswomen at Barclays Capital and CSFB declined comment and Sartori D'Borgoricco was out of the office and could not be reached.

The CSFB team consists of Michael Errington, senior fixed income government and credit salesman, Jonas Cedergren, senior salesman, Mikael Petersen, Viktor Soderlund, all Scandi salesman, and Mikael Berglund, who does asset and liability management marketing to Scandinavian insurance companies.

Over the last year Barclays Capital has hired some of the largest names in the derivatives market and is building up a reputation for paying large guarantees and attracting talented individuals. Among the most noteworthy are Kevin Burke, managing director and European head of private banking coverage at CSFB, Michel Iskander, managing director and European head of structuring at Deutsche Bank (DW, 5/30), Thierry Lucas, head of equity trading at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in New York (DW, 4/8) and Philippe El-Asmar, from Société Générale who heads up a structured products group based in New York (DW, 3/28).

Officials said CSFB will rebuild its team through a combination of hires and internal transfers. In the meantime, sales teams from other areas of the firm are covering its Scandinavian clients.
