Shinsei Bank last week hired Yoshikatsu Uesugi, director and exotic interest rate trader at WestLB in Tokyo, for a new role as deputy general manager in the trading department. Uesugi said he will handle exotic rate trading including such products as power dual reverse callable structures and constant-maturity swaps as part of the bank's expansion in interest rate and credit derivatives trading (DW, 5/20). Uesugi noted he began his trading career at the former Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan, which was reborn as Shinsei in 2000, followed by stints at Morgan Stanley, Dresdner Kleintwort Wasserstein and WestLB. He now reports to Kuniyo Ishimori, head of trading in Tokyo.
