ALLEN & OVERY

Allen & Overy led the charge on several key International Swaps and Derivatives Association projects this year, including contingent credit-default swaps and loan CDS documentation. Aside from documentation, the firm also launched a novel service to provide guidance on the deliverability of reference obligations under CDS contracts, which has been one of the hot topics of the last few years. Called CDS Deliverability, the service is run in partnership with Markit Group, and provides legal analysis of each reference obligation. A principal strength of the firm is its global reach and this year the firm was cited for its standout presence in Asia. Personnel losses to rival law firms in Asia last year have not diminished A&O's capabilities in the region. It has most recently played a key part in the opening of the Chinese market, actively engaging with the government on various issues including the Qualified Domestic Institutional Investor scheme.
Clients cited partners Edward Murray, Simon Haddock and David Benton in London, and Tom Jones and Paul Cluley in Hong Kong.
