High yield bonds are again the most favoured asset class in Europe, according to Fitch’s European fixed income investor survey — great news for banks, which are preparing plenty of new deal supply for March.

Eircom, the Irish telecoms company, and New Look, the UK high street retailer, are the latest companies said to be mulling European high yield issues this week. Both have been reported to be exploring bond issues in the near future, and bankers said deals from them were "possible" and "good targets".

Arqiva, the UK operator of broadcasting masts, sold its debut bond issue today, increasing the planned £500m investment grade portion to £750m and selling all £600m of the high yield tranche in sterling, scrapping a planned dollar tranche.

Arqiva has released price guidance for its £600m-equivalent of high yield bonds. The UK broadcast transmission network operator plans to price both these junior bonds and its investment grade bond portion tomorrow (Thursday).
