Brian McBride, head of European high-yield and loan capital markets at UBS in London, has left the firm. Steve Conway, head of the financial sponsors group, has taken over McBride’s responsibilities, according to Samantha Phillips, spokeswoman for UBS. Conway declined to comment. McBride could not be reached. UBS in London has lost many of its senior high-yield professionals over the past two years, including most recently Richard Phelan, head of high-yield industrials research, who joined Credit Suisse First Boston in London earlier this year, and before that Matthew Cestar, head of high-yield capital markets, who joined Goldman Sachs in London last year.
McBride joined UBS as co-head of European leveraged finance in February 2001, before which he was co-head of the European high-yield origination business at J.P. Morgan Securities in London, focusing on financial sponsors. Prior to March 2000, McBride was U.K. head of leveraged finance at Deutsche Bank.
