Sanofi set to launch $15bn jumbo loan imminently

France’s Sanofi-aventis is expected to launch a $15bn syndicated loan into syndication on Tuesday after initiating an $18.5bn hostile bid for US biotech firm Genzyme on Monday.

BNP Paribas, JPMorgan and Société Générale have underwritten the facility on an equal basis. It comprises a $10bn 18 month ‘A’ tranche with a six month extension option at the borrower’s behest and a $5bn 3-1/2 year ‘B’ piece.
