ESG debt volumes up 59% in 2020 but pricing to tighten further

Europe’s ESG debt market boomed last year with a record portion of the bond and syndicated loan market financing socially responsible deals, according to new research. But despite the growing supply, pricing still has further to tighten.

European environmental, social and governance (ESG) bond and loan issuance increased 58.8% year-on-year in 2020, from €245bn to €389bn, according to the Association for Finance Markets in Europe (Afme).
