Westfield owner considers raising equity

Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW), one of the largest owners of shopping malls in the world, is considering a large rights issue to reduce its leverage as the retail industry grapples with the economic fallout of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Shares in Amsterdam-listed URW fell as much as 5% at the start of this week, after the company confirmed it was considering an equity capital raise following reports at the end of last week that it was looking to raise about €3bn to reduce its leverage.
