IMF boosts Ukraine ahead of PrivatBank hearing

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) gave some reassurance to Ukraine on Saturday, when one of its senior staff told president Volodymyr Zelensky that it has a support programme in place.

During a phone call on Saturday, Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the IMF, praised Ukrainian president Zelensky for the progress his government is making regarding reforms.

Market participants see an IMF funding package as vital to Ukraine’s long term credibility in financial markets.
