Turkey sanctions risk rears again, market sceptical

Turkey’s decision to launch a military offensive in Syria has reopened the possibility of sanctions from the US, with its Senate introducing a bill to do so on Wednesday. However, the investor community is doubtful about their impact.

The bill has bipartisan support and the support of US president Donald Trump on Twitter. Trump tweeted: “I say hit Turkey very hard financially and with sanctions if they don’t play by the rules! I am watching closely.”
