Italy to issue green, seek deficit exemption

Italy's new finance minister, Roberto Gualtieri, has said Italy "would like to issue green bonds" to finance investment in greening its economy. The Treasury has begun working on the project.

Gualtieri announced the green bond aspiration at the end of a press conference with prime minister Giuseppe Conte on Monday evening, after a cabinet meeting to approve the finance ministry's budget forecasts for 2020.
