Strasbourg approves the covered bond legislative package

The covered bond industry and the Capital Markets Union (CMU) hit a new milestone on Thursday after the European Parliament’s plenary in Strasbourg adopted the text of the Covered Bond Directive just after midday.

After trilogue negotiations on the proposed Covered Bond Directive, the legislative package was subsequently approved by the Council, or Committee of Permanent Representatives and the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) before being approved by the European Parliament in Strasbourg at 12:30 on April 18.
