Funding Circle rises despite widening losses

Shares in Funding Circle Holdings, the UK peer-to-peer lending platform, closed up on Thursday despite the company reporting a widening loss in 2018 because of the costs of its £440m IPO on the London Stock Exchange in September.

Funding Circle closed at 365p, up 4% on the day, giving Funding Circle a market capitalisation of £1.26bn. The stock has recovered from its low of 254.30p at the end of 2018, but it is still 17% below its IPO offer price.
