Spanish regulator steps up to Basel chair

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has appointed Pablo Hernández de Cos, governor of the Bank of Spain, as its new chair. He takes over as the committee looks to reflect on post-crisis regulation.

Hernández de Cos’s term lasts for three years, and can be renewed once. He replaces Stefan Ingves, governor of Sveriges Riksbank, the Swedish central bank. Ingves chaired the committee since 2011.
