Old Mutual Asset Managers, which has hedge fund assets of $1.2 billion, has tapped Chris Higham from Morley Fund Management as a credit analyst. He will join in June, bringing the firm's fixed-income team to eight members, said Simon Wilson, head of marketing. Higham said he had been a credit analyst at Morley since 1999, focused on telecommunications and consumer research.
Old Mutual is planning to launch a fixed-income hedge fund later in the year. "It's in the pipeline, and it'll be very exciting to be involved in that. I'm looking forward to it," said Higham. The strategy is a logical one for the firm to pursue and the fixed-income team has been growing with this in mind, added Wilson, who was unable to outline more specific plans for the fund. Higham's appointment follows that of Andrew Tunks, who joined last month as head of fixed interest. Tunks was formerly head of global bonds and treasury at ISIS Asset Management.
