bbq.gifCitigroup has flown in Luke Randell, head of Australian equity derivatives in Sydney, to head its European equity derivatives trading operation in London. Randell will report to Jim Cowles, head of European equities, and Joe Elmlinger, head of global equity derivatives. Randell replaces Andy Crane and Richard Burns, previously co-heads of equity derivatives in London, who have both been promoted (DW, 2/11). Crane now has responsibility for all equity trading and Burns is global head of structured products (DW, 2/18). Randell could not be reached. Jeremy Hughes, spokesman for Citi, confirmed the move.

Randell ran the equity derivatives trading desk at Salomon Smith Barney Australia in Sydney, prior to the merger with Citi. He was responsible for the combined operation thereafter, building up both the trading as well as sales effort for the Aussie unit, with several hires in recent years (DW, 5/26/03).
