ABN AMRO has hired Paul Lewis, equity index trader at Citigroup in London, in a new role as a variance swap trader. Mark Bennewith, spokesman for ABN in London, confirmed the hire and said Lewis will report in to Christian Erb, global head of equity volatility trading. An official close to ABN said Lewis worked at the Dutch firm prior to joining Citigroup. Lewis was on gardening leave and could not be reached.
Luke Randell, head of equity derivatives trading for Europe at Citigroup in London, confirmed the departure and said Lewis was not replaced.
