Merrill Lynch's Taro Masuyama, head of credit sales and marketing for Japan, is retiring to spend more time with his family. His responsibilities will be assumed by Chandrakant Mohanty, managing director in Hong Kong, who is now the regional head of origination, structuring, and marketing for cash and synthetic CDOs. Masuyama could not be reached by press time.
"In Taro's seven years with our firm in Japan, he was instrumental in helping Merrill Lynch build one of the top global CDO franchises," noted Peter Walshe, head of Pacific Rim rates and credit, in Tokyo. Under Masuyama, the firm had been expanding its credit business in Japan and recently scored a coup by hiring a top CDO team from BNP Paribas (DW, 4/7).
