Calyon Swoops On Barclays For Structuring Head...

Calyon has hired David Perry, director and head of synthetic structuring for the Americas in New York, from Barclays Capital.

Calyon has hired David Perry, director and head of synthetic structuring for the Americas in New York, from Barclays Capital. As reported on DW's Web site Tuesday, he joined the French bank Nov. 29 and reports locally to Zain Abdullah, managing director and head of credit markets and CDO for Americas, and globally to Rayas Richa, global head of credit structuring in London.

Reached at Calyon, Perry referred calls to Ally Chow, global head of credit markets product management and syndicate in London, who said he was hired "to beef up the local structuring expertise on synthetics in the U.S. and North America."

Calyon announced last week it plans to increase its global structured credit headcount by one third next year and to double its collateralized debt obligation effort in North America. The firm has been moving parts of its London-based CDO team to New York over the past year, including Thomas Spitz, co-head of structured credit and derivatives (DW, 4/7), and Edouard Bremond, head of European cash CDO structuring.

Separately, Priya Arora, executive director and co-head with Bremond of CDOs at Calyon in London, has left the firm. She reported to Loic Fery, global head of credit markets and CDOs at Calyon in London, who did not immediately return calls. Reached on her mobile, Arora declined comment on the reasons for her departure and on her destination. She is tipped to be joining Morgan Stanley as deputy head of CDOs, reporting to Dorothee Fuhrmann, head of CDOs, who did not return a call.
