Jefferies International in London has hired Thomas Solset, a manager at Sony Corp. in London where he helped build Sony Connect, the on-line music store, as a high-yield and distressed debt research analyst to cover technology, media and telecommunications as well as consumer names.
Prior to Sony, Solset was a strategy consultant at the Mitchell Madison Group, a management consulting and private equity firm. He starts in the new position at Jefferies this week, and reports to David Lofts, head of European high-yield and distressed debt. "Thomas Solset adds in-depth knowledge of TMT and fills out our research effort, joining senior analyst Peter Cuckovic," said Lofts. Solset said, "I'm excited about joining this great entrepreneurial bank."
Solset is Lofts' second new hire for Jefferies' European high-yield and distressed team, which Lofts left Bank of America in April to set up (BW, 4/26). Michael Khouri was the first new hire, a salesman in high-yield and distressed debt, who joined a month ago from Bank of America in London, where he had worked with Lofts.
