Marten Touw, head of global markets, North East Asia at Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong, resigned last week and will join Japan's Shinsei Bank, formerly known as Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan. Touw said he will take a new position at Shinsei, declining to provide details. At Standard Chartered his responsibilities included oversight of the firm's North East Asian derivatives business across all asset classes.
A derivatives head at a rival bank in Hong Kong said Touw's resignation was unexpected because he had just been promoted from head of global markets, Hong Kong, in December. Touw said he regretted leaving Standard Chartered, but added that the offer from Shinsei was too interesting to refuse.
At Shinsei Touw said he will report to David Fite, chief financial officer and business head, Fite was traveling and could not be reached.
At Standard Chartered Touw reported to Roy Lambden, head of global sales and trading in London. Touw said Standard Chartered is now looking to hire a permanent replacement for him. Lambden did not return calls.
