HSBC recently brought aboard C.S. Yang, former corporate finance mergers and acquisition specialist at J.P. Morgan in Seoul, as v.p., treasury, head of derivative sales in Seoul. He replaces Shim Kai Wan, v.p., treasury, who has relocated to HSBC's Toronto office.
Yang, currently HSBC's only derivatives salesman on the ground in Seoul, said he will build up the sales operation and hire a team. He declined to comment on the size or timeframe. Yang said he made the move because, after working as a credit analyst and investment banker, he is looking to "make a journey around all banking areas." He reports to S.T. Jung, treasurer in Seoul. Jung was on vacation and could not be reached for comment.
At J.P. Morgan Yang reported to Steven Lim, head of investment banking. Lim did not return calls.
