StanChart Adds Two On Credit Desk

Standard Chartered Bank has hired Conor MacNamara, v.p. at Gen Re Securities in Tokyo, and Laurent Benissan, director in credit marketing at Merrill Lynch in Paris, to its credit desk in Singapore, according to the new recruits. The duo reports to Debbie Min, head of structured asset solutions in Singapore. Min declined comment.

StanChart set up a credit derivatives trading and structuring operation last year, and subsequently made a number of hires (DW, 6/3). The bank will focus its efforts on structuring products, such as credit-linked notes and synthetic collateralized debt obligations for the Asian region. "We're ready and raring to go," said MacNamara.

At Gen Re, MacNamara said he had reported to Yannis Vasatis, managing director in Tokyo. He said Vasatis has left Gen Re and is taking time off from the industry. Vasatis could not be reached for comment.
