Merrill Lynch is bringing aboard Vivian Ling, equity derivatives trader at DBS in Singapore. Ling starts this week in a new position as an exotic equity derivatives trader in Hong Kong, working alongside Winnie Chiu, according to an official. Ling could not be reached. She will report to James Rodríguez de Castro, managing director in global equity-linked products in Hong Kong, who declined comment.
At DBS, Ling reported to Dean Thomas, head of equity derivatives in the Lion City. Thomas declined comment.
Market officials noted that Merrill has been building up its equity derivatives business in recent months in both Tokyo and Hong Kong (DW, 3/14) on the back of a resurgence in the Asian markets.
