Merrill Lynch has hired Phil Kane, a structured credit trader at Citigroup Global Markets in London, as a director in its insurance solutions group in New York. Kane is filling a newly created seat, focusing on structured synthetic securitizations, according to an official.
Kane, who could not be reached, reports to Doug Mallach and John Shaffer, co-heads of credit and structured product sales in New York. Mallach confirmed Kane's hire but declined further comment.
