Golub Capital is preparing to price its third securitization, a $400 million portfolio with Wachovia Securities. The portfolio is called Golub Capital Partners 2007-1. The firm previously did a $300 million structure in 2006 and a $300 million structure in 2005. David Golub, vice chairman, declined comment.
Golub is a private investment firm founded in 1994 with offices in Atlanta, Chicago, New York and San Francisco. It uses the securitizations to finance its business. The firm invests in debt and equity of U.S. based middle-market companies; typical investments range from $5-75 million. Wachovia led the firm's first transaction and Ixis led the second portfolio. It is unclear why the firm went back to Wachovia for its third. Unlike a typical collateralized loan obligation, Golub owns all of its equity.
It closed its fifth fund with $700 million of capital, Golub Capital Partners V in October, according to a press release.
