Castlegrove Capital Management has lured a pair of senior equity officials to join its cast of former JPMorgan managing directors. Castlegrove was set up earlier this year (DW, 7/22) by former equity derivative bosses Christian Dalban, Clemens Lansing and Paul Frost-Smith.
The firm has hired Andreas Klainguti, previously managing director and head of a European equity long/short prop desk at Merrill Lynch. Klainguti will oversee equity long/short trading. Gareth Murphy, previously co-head of European equity derivatives flow trading at JPMorgan, also comes on board to head equity derivative trading. Murphy co-headed equity flow trading at JPMorgan with Lansing. Alexandra Walker, spokeswoman for Merrill, and Sarah Oppler, spokeswoman for JPMorgan, did not comment on replacements for Klainguti and Murphy by press time.
Frost-Smith, responsible for marketing at Castlegrove, said it plans to launch its first fund, dubbed Global Micro Fund, in the first quarter. The investment strategy will be equity focused, covering long/short, derivative and capital structure trading. He declined to say how much capital the fund will manage.
