Mechel waiver talks continue despite VEB help
Russian mining and metals company Mechel is still in talks with its lenders about the restructuring of its debt, despite reportedly securing a $1.5bn loan from state-owned Vnesheconombank to repay one of its outstanding loans. Mechel issued a waiver request in December which according to bankers close to the company has not yet been resolved, particularly with regards to a $2bn, five year pre-export financing.
