Signet pays up to loosen covenants

Signet Jewelers, the retailer which owns high street chains including Ernest Jones and H. Samuel, has amended the $520m syndicated loan it signed last year. Falling sales in the UK and US forced the borrower to renegotiate one of its most stringent covenants, in return for which it has reduced the facility and increased its margins.
