Bank of England to widen DWF collateral to loans
The Bank of England this week proposed allowing loans to be used as collateral for the first time in its discount window facility (DWF), which was established to provide short term liquidity to what it calls sound banks. The move, while not providing a tool for funding UK loan portfolios under normal circumstances, will open up a route to emergency funding — though with heavy haircuts attached.
