UK’s £2bn infrastructure loan scheme marks its debut

Financing has closed for the first project to use the UK Treasury’s newly created £2bn Infrastructure Finance Unit, designed to make up for shortfalls of private debt on infrastructure deals. The IFU, set up at the beginning of March, contributed £120m to the Greater Manchester Waste PFI, a £640m 25 year project to build and operate recycling facilities across the area.
