Spanish defaults to soar as Habitat files for administration
Rising defaults in Spain’s beleaguered real estate sector are looming over the European loan market with Catalan group Habitat supplying the latest blow as it filed for administration on Friday. The firm, Spain’s fifth largest real estate company, has a Eu1.6bn facility outstanding. Spanish banks, in particular, will be set for more losses as defaults rise.
