DCM chief Arnaudy to exit StanChart
Anthony Arnaudy, managing director and head of Northeast Asia debt capital markets (DCM) at Standard Chartered, has been let go from bank after three years in his role. Arnaudy’s last day was Friday (March 8). Sources could not confirm his next move and Standard Chartered declined to comment.
Hong Kong-based Arnaudy joined Standard Chartered in early 2010 to assume his current role, charged with leading investment grade and high yield bond origination for Greater China. He joined from Nomura, where he was head of debt capital markets in Asia ex Japan.
Arnaudy has worked in capital markets for more than 20 years. He first joined Lehman Brothers in New York in 1992, managing the international financing team. Twelve years later, Arnaudy moved to Asia to run Lehman Brothers’ DCM business across the region.
He joined Nomura after Lehman’s collapse in 2008, then left the Japanese bank in the fourth quarter of 2009.
King of RBS leaves for Jefferies
Augusto King left his role as head of debt capital markets (DCM) for Asia at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) on March 8. He will take on a position at Jefferies after a short gardening leave.
King joined RBS in 2007, and took over sole responsibility for the bank’s DCM team a year ago, when his co-head Roland Hinterkoerner moved to head up corporate advisory for the bank.
Before working at RBS, King worked for ABN Amro between 2004 and 2007, and has also worked for HSBC, J.P. Morgan and Merrill Lynch.
Richdale joins GS from MS
Kate Richdale has joined Goldman Sachs as head of investment banking services (IBS) for Asia ex-Japan. She will report to Dan Dees and Matthew Westerman.
Richdale joins the bank from Morgan Stanley, where she worked for 13 years, most recently as head of investment banking for Asia Pacific, since March 2011, and as co-head from 2009, according to a Goldman Sachs internal memo seen by Asiamoney PLUS.
Before this, her roles at Morgan Stanley include head of investment banking for Southeast Asia between 2003-2006, head of the Asia Pacific Global Industrials Group from 2007 to 2009, and CEO of Southeast Asia. Her new role will be effective from June, and she will be based in Hong Kong.
Turowski and Zhang named Apac IB co-heads at MS
Dieter Turowski and Shane Zhang will co-head Asia Pacific investment banking at Morgan Stanley, replacing Richdale, who has joined Goldman Sachs.
Turowski joined the bank in 1988 in the London mergers and acquisitions (M&A) department and has held a number of positions across the investment banking division. Most recently he was global co-head of natural resources. He is currently based in London.
Zhang joined Morgan Stanley in 1998 in the New York financial institutions group. He moves from his position as co-head of China investment banking.
BNP Paribas hires new Asian central bank sales head
Hong Kong-based James Watson recently left his position as head of Asian central bank sales at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) to take on the role of head of Asian central bank sales for fixed income, currencies and commodities (FICC) at BNP Paribas.
He joined RBC in April 2011 from Crédit Agricole (CA CIB), where he was also head of central bank sales for Asia.
Yong Jang, Vicky Li and Teresa Ang, CA CIB’s Asian sovereign wealth fund and central bank sales team all handed in their notices at the same time as Watson and left the bank to join him at RBC, as reported by Asiamoney PLUS. Before joining CA CIB, Watson worked for Nomura for 12 years.
Deputy head of fixed income leaves Crédit Agricole
Arnold Kan, managing director and regional head of sales and deputy head of fixed income for Asia ex-Japan at Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (CA CIB) has left the bank.
Kan joined CA CIB – then Calyon – in April 2008 from J.P. Morgan, where he was head of sales for the foreign exchange and rates markets.
A spokesperson for the French bank confirmed that Kan has left, and that Scott Paul has been appointed global markets regional head of sales for Asia Pacific in his place.
Paul is based in Hong Kong, and was previously head of financial institutional sales for Hong Kong.
New head of Asia local markets FX trading at Citi
Sunil Kalra has taken on the role of head of Asia local markets FX trading at Citi.
He joined Citibank India in 2005 from Deutsche Bank to manage the FX trading desk, before taking on responsibility for both rates and FX trading in India.
He moved to Singapore in 2009 to head up the bank’s global macro sales desk as well as Singapore investor sales. Until Kalra’s successor is announced, he will also manage the sales desk.
StanChart hires global head of investor coverage
Jeremy Amias has joined Standard Chartered as global head of investor coverage, a newly created role, effective from March 1. He reports to Peter Heidinger, global head, financial institutions group, origination and client coverage. Amias will be based in Hong Kong.
He joins from commodities house Marex Spectron, where he was Asia Pacific CEO. Before this he was head of fixed income, currencies and commodities (FICC) for Citi in Asia, before setting up his own fixed-income firm, Amias Berman & Co.
Kishimoto president of BNY Mellon AM Japan
Shizu Kishimoto will take over as representative director and president of BNY Mellon’s Japanese investment management subsidiary, BNY Mellon Asset Management Japan, effective from April 1.
Kishimoto will take over from Shogo Yamaguchi, who will take on the role of chairman. Both are based in Toyko and will report to Alan Harden, CEO for the company’s Asia Pacific investment management business.
She joined the firm in 2003 and has worked in investment management for over 15 years. Before BNY Mellon, she worked for UBS Trust and Banking and Credit Suisse Asset Management. She moves to her new role from her position as head of retail sales and marketing.
Yamaguchi joined BNY Mellon in 2007 from Credit Suisse Asset Management. Before this he worked for Sumitomo Corporation in Tokyo and London.
Fidelity Australia CEO Doherty steps down
Gerard Doherty, Australia CEO at Fidelity Worldwide Investment, has left the firm after five years. Mark Talbot, managing director for Asia ex-Japan at the firm will take responsibility for the Australian business until a replacement is found.
A spokesperson for Fidelity confirmed that the search for a replacement Australia CEO is underway.
Marjanovic joins as partner at Simmons & Simmons
Dan Marjanovic has been appointed banking partner at Simmons & Simmons in Hong Kong, effective March 4. He joins the firm from Norton Rose Australia where he was a partner and national team leader of the banking and finance team.
He specialises in cross-border financing advisory, including Asia and Australia. He moves from Singapore where he was based for more than ten years, and will focus on Simmons & Simmons clients in Southeast Asia.
Last year, the firm appointed five partners in Asia. Tom Fyfe (dispute resolution), Vivien Yang (corporate), Jay Lee (finance), Yongmei Evers Cai (finance) and Lesli Ligorner (employment).
