BNP Paribas hires new Asian central bank sales head

James Watson has joined BNP Paribas as managing director and head of Asian central bank sales in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong-based James Watson recently left his position as head of Asian central bank sales at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) to take on the role of head of Asian central bank sales for fixed income, currencies and commodities (FICC) at BNP Paribas.

He joined RBC in April 2011 from Crédit Agricole (CA CIB), where he was also head of central bank sales for Asia.

Yong Jang, Vicky Li and Teresa Ang, CA CIB’s Asian sovereign wealth fund and central bank sales team all handed in their notices at the same time as Watson and left the bank to join him at RBC, as reported by Asiamoney PLUS.

Before joining CA CIB, Watson worked for Nomura for 12 years.

A spokeswoman for BNP Paribas confirmed the move and that Watson has been working for BNP Paribas for around three weeks.
