Temlock departs ANZ debt syndicate
Larry Temlock has left Australia and New Zealand Bank’s Asia debt syndicate team after nearly three years.
Temlock’s last day in the Hong Kong office was Monday (April 30) but he will continue to be employed by the bank until July 28.
The director joined ANZ from UBS in 2010 where he was responsible for Asian MTNS, and has also worked for J.P. Morgan in Tokyo.
At ANZ he reported to James Holian, head of debt syndicate, Asia who transferred from Sydney to Hong Kong last year.
A spokesperson for ANZ confirmed Temlock's departure.
Nomura hires equity team from BoA-Merrill
Nomura has hired Jae Lee as managing director for the equity structuring business in Asia ex-Japan, effective next week. He will report to John Goff, head of structuring for Asia ex-Japan.
Lee joins from Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BoA-Merrill) and his move follows that of Yasuhiro Fujiwara, who joined Nomura from BoA-Merrill at the end of last month, as head of equities for Asia ex-Japan and head of equity derivatives trading for Asia Pacific.
It is understood that Fujiwara will bring several move members of his team at BoA-Merrill over to Nomura during the next few months. A spokesperson from Nomura declined to comment.
Patron to head StanChart global corp sales
Alvaro Patron has been named head of global corporate sales for financial markets at Standard Chartered. Patron will be based in Singapore and will report to Christian Wait, global head of sales for financial markets.
He joins the bank from Citi where he worked for 15 years, most recently as Asia head of corporate derivatives structuring and consultative sales. He has worked across Asia and the Americas.
HSBC hires in GTRF
HSBC has made several appointments to its global trade and receivables (GTRF) team.
Adrian Rigby has been named global head of product for GTRF. He has worked at the bank for 25 years in Asia and Europe, specialising in commercial banking as well as trade and receivables financing.
Khuresh Faizullabhoy will take on the position of global head of middle office, GTRF. He has worked at HSBC in India, Indonesia and Singapore for the last 26 years. Most recently he was based in Hong Kong, heading up global trade operations.
Mark Emmerson will take on the role of global head of export for growth, GTRF. He joined the bank in 1998 and has worked in Hong Kong, the UK, the UAE, Armenia, Oman and Indonesia. His most recent role was head of trade and receivables in continental Europe. All three will report directly to James Emmett, global head of trade and receivables finance.
Challenor to head Apac transaction services at J.P. Morgan
Dianne Challenor has joined J.P. Morgan as head of transaction services – cash management, liquidity and escrow services – for Asia Pacific, according to an internal memo seen by Asiamoney PLUS.
She will report to Tom DuCharme, Asia Pacific co-head of banking, corporate and investment bank as well as Paul Camp, global head of transactions services, corporate and investment bank. She joins from Citi where she worked for 13 years, most recently as chief operating officer for Citi’s transaction bank in Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong.
Before Citi she worked for Hewlett Packard and SAS Institute in sales and sales management roles with a focus on Australia.
New head of Apac Delta One at Citi
Dylan Halterlein will take on the position of managing director and Asia Pacific head of the Delta One product at Citi.
He will report regionally to James Boyle, Asia Pacific head of equity trading and Joseph Chang, Asia Pacific head of prime finance. Globally he will report to Mike Pringle, global head of equity trading.
Before joining the bank, Halterlein spent 10 years at Goldman Sachs, where he was a partner and he was responsible for building out its Delta One platform. Before this he worked in derivatives and portfolio trading at Deutsche Bank and Susquehanna International Group.
UBS in wealth management reorganisation
UBS has reshuffled its Hong Kong wealth management team, effective May 1. Betty Tsui will become vice chairman for wealth management China, reporting to Kathryn Shih. Tsui has worked for the bank for 12 years.
Ruth Chung will become regional market manager for wealth management China 1. She joined the bank in 1994 with a focus on Taiwan. After this she became country team head for China North in 2007. The country team under Ernst Schuler will also report to her.
Francis Liu will take over as regional market manager for wealth management China 2. Liu is currently regional market manager for Hong Kong domestic 2 but will expand his coverage into China. Liu joined UBS in 2010 as regional market manager, working with Jean-Claude Humair to manage the Hong Kong domestic business. Before joining UBS he worked for Merrill Lynch.
Humair will take full responsibility for the wealth management Hong Kong market. He will also become deputy CEO for wealth management Hong Kong. He moved to Hong Kong in 1996 from UBS Geneva and then moved to Tokyo in 2006 to become CEO for Wealth Management Japan. He returned to Hong Kong in 2011. Humair, Liu and Chung will report to Allen Lo.
BlackRock hires Gillespie from Principal
Alastair Gillespie has joined BlackRock as the asset manager sets up an Asia Pacific real estate securities team. Gillespie will take on the role of CIO of Asia Pacific real estate securities, effective immediately.
He will be based in Singapore and report to Mark Howard-Johnson, global head of real estate securities and Marc Desmidt, head of alpha strategies for Asia Pacific.
He joins from Principal Global Investors where he was also based in Singapore and focused on global and domestic Australian strategies. Before this he worked at UBS Asia as co-head of the Asian Real Estate Securities Division in Singapore. He has also worked at UBS and ABN Amro in Australia.
Ho to head HK and China equities at Esemplia
Samantha Ho has joined Esemplia Emerging Markets, part of Legg Mason Global Asset Management, as head of Hong Kong and China equities, effective immediately. She is based in Hong Kong.
Ho has worked in fund management for over 25 years. She moves from Invesco Hong Kong where she worked for eight years, most recently as investment director and the lead manager of the Invesco Hong Kong and China fund and the PRC equity fund.
Before this she worked at Manulife Asset Management (HK), managing insurance, mutual funds and MPF investments in Greater China.
Clifford Chance names three Asia partners
Clifford Chance has promoted three lawyers to become partners in Asia. Matthew Buchanan will join the Singapore office to focus on project finance and Melissa Ng will join as an M&A corporate adviser, also based in Singapore. Banking and finance lawyer Jiahua Ni will join the firm’s Shanghai office. The new roles will be effective from May 1.
All three have been appointed partners from their former positions at the firm. Buchanan has worked at Clifford Chance since 2006, initially in the London and Beijing offices before moving to Singapore in 2009.
Ng joined the firm in London in 2002 and moved to Singapore in 2004 and Ni joined Clifford Chance in 2007 after working at King & Wood for seven years.
Benachi joins Gide Loyrette Nouel
Gide Loyrette Nouel (GLN) has hired Paul-Emmanuel Benachi to join the firm’s Shanghai office as a partner. Benachi has worked as a lawyer in China for nine years, with a focus on advising foreign companies investing in China, corporate law and M&A, cross-border transactions and restructuring.
