Loan Ranger: Exercise of mind, body... and liver

Last week loans bankers were busy theorising, hiking and drinking, from the lofty heights of the Italian mountains, to the lowly lows of some of London's boozers .

Meeting Soc Gen’s Laurent Vignon for coffee last week, the Frenchman praised the English countryside for its beautiful landscapes and long walks. The loans head was also eagerly awaiting a holiday trekking through Croatia.

Meanwhile Intesa’s Antonio Stochino answered emails from the Italian mountains, where he was hiking with his family.

In London, BAML’s Damien Orban, chose philosophical stimulation instead. Orban has a number of interesting views about the nature of order and chaos.

He suggested that what was really important was that people worked together for the common good, and not what the Bank of England chose to do with interest rates.

It was fair to say that the Ranger was a little stumped by Orban’s enlightened thinking. We're not much used to discussion beyond the minutiae of tenors and margins.

Lastly ING’s Nick Vozianov swerved the outdoors and high thinking altogether, choosing instead the much-loved London pub — the option the Ranger most approves of.
