Loan Ranger: Children’s hour

loan ranger

Those in the loan market were celebrating their inner child last week.

Soc Gen’s Zvi Wohlgemuth was letting his hair down at Chessington adventure park on Monday. He told the Ranger that he was out there recruiting new grad trainees but we suspect that he had taken the day off to entertain the kids.

At the Loan Market Associaton's developing markets conference on Tuesday, Standard Chartered’s Charles Corbett clearly still thinks he is in school, as he was passing notes to the Ranger during the conference when he should have been paying attention! What next, paper aeroplanes?

At the conference buffet, behaviour was reminiscent of the school canteen, with a ruthless battle for the few available seats — secured only by the coolest delegates (presumably those that smoked and had a provisional driver’s license)

The remainder suffered the awkwardness of juggling glasses and plates while shaking hands and exchanging business cards.

Citi’s Tom Lambourne was found later in the day like a sulking teenager with a pair of headphones on —  the Ranger quickly realised that he was not listening to Nirvana but was actually on a conference call.

On a more mature note, the Ranger has learnt that Lloyd’s James Galea still has his eyebrows after his stag party last week but did resort to the use of a novelty wig (of which we have photographic evidence, which may be used for bargaining material in the future...)
