France’s Amundi completes takeover of American counterpart

French asset management firm Amundi has signed an agreement to acquire American institutional asset management firm Smith Breeden. The deal, which was announced in New York on Monday, is to close by the end of September.

Amundi says the acquisition will provide its clients in Europe, Asia and the Middle East with asset management expertise in products denominated in US dollars. Amundi also said it would strengthen the American component of its global fixed income expertise.
