EuroWeekAsia has revealed the winners of its annual loan poll this week: recognising the best banks and borrowers in Asia’s syndicated loan market. The awards were presented on Wednesday evening at a gala dinner at Top Deck on Hong Kong’s famous Jumbo floating restaurant. Over 80 loan market participants gathered to commend their peers, keen to see who would pick up the coveted awards.

FirstRand is set to become a regular borrower in Asia after launching a $100m two year deal this week. The South African bank is trying to boost its profile in the region, and hopes to sell bonds, loans and possibly a private placement before the end of the year.

Two small Indian banks are looking to emulate the success of their larger rivals — by tapping the international loan market.
