Canadian insurance group Great-West Life has hired banks for its inaugural senior unsecured benchmark in euros, which will partially finance its acquisition of Irish Life. Elsewhere, senior trading was muted on Thursday ahead of a policy announcement from the European Central Bank.

Support is growing for the argument that senior debt should be bail-inable in all EU member states from 2015.
