Fitch Ratings has appointed two new regional heads of financial institutions ratings — Mark Young as head of Asia Pacific and Franklin Santarelli as head of Latin America. Both are internal appointments.

Royal Bank of Canada has acquired Loudon Capital Partners, a boutique FIG advisory firm. Mike Carter and Robin Mackie, the principals at Loudon, will head RBC Capital Markets’ European FIG group. They will be based in London and report to Patrick Meier, head of investment banking Europe.

Sanjay Sofat, Lloyds’ head of capital issuance and structuring, is relocating to New York, EuroWeek can reveal. Sofat will remain part of Lloyds’ group corporate treasury but will take up the newly created position of regional treasurer, Americas, in late February.

HSBC has appointed Spencer Lake co-head of global markets as part of a wider reorganisation of the bank’s senior management. Lake, previously head of debt capital markets at the bank, will head global markets with Jose-Luis Guerrero, who is presently head of global markets, EMEA.
