Lives of the rich and famous

What I would not give to be one of those guys who has a helicopter at his beck and call, a limousine and a personal assistant whose sole responsibility is to make life easy and organised.

Well, one of my chums recently met one such billionaire. With a residence on the outskirts of Jakarta and another on a remote private island — this chap had everything and more. And my friend got to enjoy one of his luxuries during a pitch meeting in Indonesia.

His one-on-one meeting was in full swing when the client’s PA interrupted him with a reminder that his flight for a business trip was due to leave from Jakarta airport in less than an hour.

Now, anyone who has ever been to Jakarta has likely been stuck in its infamous traffic jams for hours at a stretch. But the billionaire seemingly just brushed off his PA and continued on with the discussion.

Some 20 minutes passed and then 30 before the PA rushed in again, saying he had to leave now. And that’s when the client apparently turned to my friend and asked if he wanted to ride along so they could continue the discussion.

My friend took him up on his offer and before he knew it, he was whisked away to a private helicopter, and in less than 10 minutes landed at the airport. There was no security check for his prospective client who simply waved goodbye and jumped into a commercial aircraft ready to take off.

Now that’s what I call living in style.
