Door for equity deals slams shut as UK turns its back on EU

Equity capital markets issuance in Europe will be minimal until September, after the UK’s shock vote to leave the European Union.

The Euro Stoxx 50 is down 7.4% today, taking it to 14% down this year and 22% from a year ago. The FTSE 100 recovered from an early fall of 4.8% to reach 2.1% down by 4pm. The FTSE 250 also steadied, but was down 6.6%.
